"ONE LOVE" and "ANSELM" are the big winners of CINELIBRI 2023

IVAN VERBANOV - SOFIA - 20.10.2023 / The jury of the Ninth edition of the cinema-literary festival "Cinelibri", which is the only one of its kind in the world, founded and directed by Jacqueline Wagenstein - a member of the European Film Academy, awarded the Grand prize for the best literary adaptation for a full-length film of the Spanish romantic drama "One Love" ("Un Amor"). The president of the jury this year - film legend William Baldwin announced the award at the solemn ceremony in Hall 1 of the NDK. The director of the film is Isabel Coixet Castillo ("My Life Without Me", "Elegy", "The Bookstore"), who is also a co-writer with Laura Ferrero. The film is an impressive adaptation of a novel by Sara Mesa, an original, intimate, psychologically penetrating and irrevocably complete story, an example of a masterful "metamorphosis" of a literary work through the means of cinematography! The award was accepted by H.E. Alejandro Polanco Mata, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain in Bulgaria: "For us, this award represents something extremely important. We, all Spaniards here, are very happy and this is an honor for us," said the diplomat from the stage of the NDK. For the second year in a row, an award was also presented in the "Best Documentary" category. The prize-winner of the 9th edition of "Cinelibri 2023" went to the tape "Anselm" (The Sound of Time) - the new documentary film by Wim Wenders, which is dedicated to the artist Anselm Kiferazi - one of the greatest contemporary painters and sculptors. The movie "The Palace" by Roman Polanski was shown in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture. The "Sinelibri" festival continues ...! Good luck!
